The Commons ("we", "us", "our") is a civic community space where people come together to understand themselves, one another, and the world they share — through blogs, stories, contributions, problem-bucket submissions, and the ability to join our community or support us with a donation. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how it's handled.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information directly from you when you interact with this site, specifically:
- Join Us form: full name, email address, phone number, age, district and block.
- Contribution / Stories / Problem Bucket submissions: whatever content, name or contact details you choose to submit.
- Donations: your name, email, and phone number entered at checkout. Card, UPI, net-banking and wallet details are collected and processed directly by Razorpay — we do not receive or store your full payment credentials.
- Automatically collected data: basic technical information such as browser type, device type, and pages visited, used only to keep the site working properly.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To respond to you and keep you informed about The Commons' activities.
- To process and confirm donations made through Razorpay, and issue any related receipts or acknowledgements.
- To understand which districts and blocks our community is reaching, so we can organise local efforts more effectively.
- To publish contributions, stories or blog content you've explicitly submitted for that purpose.
- To maintain the security and proper functioning of the website.
3. Payment Processing (Razorpay)
All donations on this site are processed through Razorpay, a PCI-DSS compliant, RBI-regulated payment gateway. When you make a donation:
- Your payment details (card number, UPI ID, bank credentials, etc.) are entered directly into Razorpay's secure checkout and are never stored on our servers.
- We receive only a payment confirmation, transaction ID, amount, and the contact details you provided at checkout.
- Razorpay's own privacy practices govern how your payment data is handled during the transaction; you can review their policy at razorpay.com/privacy.
4. Sharing of Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share information only with:
- Razorpay, solely to process a donation you've chosen to make.
- Service providers who help us run this website (e.g. hosting), bound to keep your data confidential.
- Authorities, only where required by law.
5. Data Retention
We retain your information only as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose it was collected for — for example, donation records are kept as long as required for accounting and legal compliance, and Join Us details are kept while you remain part of our community.
6. Your Choices
You can ask us to update or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop contacting you, at any time by reaching out to us through this website. Note that we cannot delete transaction records that Razorpay or the law requires us to retain.
7. Children's Privacy
This site is not directed at children. The Join Us form requires an age to be entered; if you are under 18, please have a parent or guardian's involvement before submitting your details.

The Commons is a civic engagement community — not a political party, not a mob, and not an organisation built around violence or hatred — bringing citizens together to learn, discuss, question, examine and organise around the issues that shape their lives.
2. Eligibility & Accuracy of Information
When you submit the Join Us form or any other form on this site, you confirm that the information you provide (name, email, phone number, age, district, block, or any contribution content) is accurate and belongs to you. Submitting false or misleading information may result in your entry being removed.
3. User-Submitted Content
Blogs, stories, contributions and problem-bucket submissions you send us may be reviewed, edited for clarity, and published on this website or associated channels. By submitting content, you grant The Commons the right to publish and share it in connection with our civic work. You remain responsible for ensuring your submission does not infringe anyone else's rights or contain unlawful, defamatory, or harmful material.
4. Donations & Payments
Donations made on this site are processed securely through Razorpay. By making a donation, you agree to the following:
- You are voluntarily contributing to support The Commons' civic activities; donations are not payment for any goods or services.
- All payment processing, including validation of your card/UPI/bank details, is handled by Razorpay under its own terms, available at razorpay.com/terms.
- You must ensure the payment details you enter are your own and that you are authorised to use them.
- A confirmation of your donation will be sent to the email/phone number provided at checkout.
5. Refunds & Cancellations
Donations, once processed, are generally non-refundable, as they directly support ongoing civic work. If a payment was made in error or a technical fault caused a duplicate charge, please contact us within 7 days through this website, along with your transaction ID, and we will review the matter and coordinate with Razorpay where a refund is warranted.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use this website to:
- Submit false, abusive, defamatory, or unlawful content.
- Attempt to disrupt, hack, or gain unauthorised access to the site or its data.
- Use the Join Us form, donation flow, or any submission form for spam, fraud, or any purpose unrelated to genuine civic participation.
7. Intellectual Property
The Commons name, logo, and original site content are the property of The Commons / Here Comes Everyone. User-submitted content remains attributed to its author where reasonably possible, subject to the publishing rights granted under Section 3.
8. No Warranty & Limitation of Liability
This website and its content are provided "as is." We do our best to keep information accurate and the site running smoothly, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access or that the site will be error-free. To the extent permitted by law, The Commons is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of this site or a donation transaction, beyond amounts actually paid by you.

संसाधित हो चुके दान आमतौर पर धनवापसी योग्य नहीं होते, क्योंकि वे सीधे चल रहे नागरिक कार्य का समर्थन करते हैं। यदि किसी त्रुटि के कारण भुगतान हुआ हो या किसी तकनीकी गड़बड़ी से डुप्लीकेट चार्ज हुआ हो, तो कृपया 7 दिनों के भीतर इस वेबसाइट के माध्यम से अपने लेन-देन आईडी के साथ हमसे संपर्क करें, और हम मामले की समीक्षा करेंगे तथा जहाँ धनवापसी उचित हो, वहाँ Razorpay के साथ समन्वय करेंगे।
